Key findings for avoiding Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT)
A new report highlights several key findings for avoiding Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT) for general aviation pilots. The General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC), a public-pri- vate partnership focused on improving the safe- ty of the general aviation industry, published a report from its Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT) Working Group in June 2021, with key find- ings for avoiding these often fatal accidents. The GAJSC analyzes aviation safety data to identify emerging issues and develop mitigation strate- gies that address and prioritize safety issues. Previous efforts focused on Loss of Control (LOC) accidents and System/Component Failure –
